Tourism promise

Tourism took a deep hit when the COVID pandemic forced people to stay home starting in March 2020. In Eunice, that was combined with the closing of the Liberty Theatre and Jean Lafitte Prairie Acadian Culture Center. Both are shutdown for repairs.
Mary Tate Collier, a resident at Eunice Manor, celebrated her 100th birthday with a party Friday. Collier and her late sister, Ethel Tate, owned and managed Mary Collier Fashions from 1966 until 1984. It was a morning to celebrate Friday because Eunice Manor resident Mary Collier would turn 100 years old on Sunday. Collier, born on Aug. 21, 1922, in Ville Platte, is last surviving child from her family.

Early morning shooting leaves one injured

A shooting that occurred early Monday morning injured a 17 year old subject. According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, "At 5:40 a.m. this morning police responded to a shooting at the intersection of 13th Street and Eddie Street. There were 15 shots fired at the home.
