Traffic stop yields haul of weapons, ammo

A traffic stop by Eunice Police on Tuesday yielded a haul of weapons, including one AR-style rifle reported stolen out of East Feliciana Parish, and the arrest of the driver, Jaheim Joseph, 20, Opelousas, according to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef. At about 11:40 p.m.

Arrest made in Saturday shooting

An 18-year-old Eunice man is charged in connection with numerous shots being fired at about 4 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Jelks Street. Nicholas Vigee, of the 900 block of Tate Street, Eunice, was arrested at about 5:30 a.m.

Fire kills man in motor home in rural Acadia Parish

A fire killed a man in a motor home at 1643 Atterbury Road in Acadia Parish, according to Acadia Parish Fire District 4 Fire Chief Harral Johnson. Johnson said the dispatch to the fire occurred at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday for the motor home fire with a male inside.

Gas leak causes evacuation

About 50 people in downtown Eunice were evacuated after a gas leak was discovered at 12: 25 p.m. Monday, according to Fire Chief Chaise Brown. No injuries were reported due to the leak that also closed about 15 business.
