Former police officer sentenced

A former Crowley and Lake Arthur Police officer was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years in prison. Damon Broussard’s crime is molesting a young child. His sentence comes nine years after charges were initially brought against him. He was found guilty in November of 2021.

Brothers busted on beaucoup drug, weapon charges

Two brothers were busted on beaucoup drug and weapon charges on Tuesday at a residence in the 1700 block of La. 749, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating thefts which occurred in the northeastern portion of Acadia Parish near Church Point.

Fire claims house

Firefighters from Acadia Parish Fire District 4 responded and reported to a house fire at 3:26 p.m. Friday at 162 Dan Drive located in Acadia Parish. Other firefighters responding to the fire included those from Richard Iota, Branch and Fire District 6.
