Fireworks legal in Eunice through July 5

Shooting fireworks in Eunice is legal from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. through July 5, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. The city does ban the use of bottle rockets also know as penny rockets. The city-sponsored fireworks displayed is scheduled at 9 p.m.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office Arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. June 26-28 Cordell Ray Lastrapes, 25, 100 block of Nick Drive, Port Barre. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses. Arrested by Opelousas Police.
