Surveillance system eyed for Eunice

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot was authorized by the Board of Aldermen to obtain prices for a surveillance system for high-crime areas of Eunice. The move follows a shooting at Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street that killed two people include one man who was bystander.

Police: Love triangle provokes shooting

A man found in bed with another man’s girlfriend ended up wounded in a shooting, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot stated in a news release. David Haworth, 33, of the 400 block of Acadia Street, Eunice, was booked on attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault with a firearm, he said.

A fire at 2:36 a.m. Monday destroyed at house at 710 Tate St. Eunice Chief Mike Arnold said no one was home at the time of the fire. Arnold said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
