New DA Pitre announces sentencing of murderer

In his first major announcement at St. Landry Parish district attorney, Chad Pitre announced that murderer Phillip Wayne DeWoody, 54, was sentenced Tuesday to three life sentences.

Suspect in Eunice shooting surrenders

Jasten Thomas, 18, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for his involvement in the March 7 shooting that occurred on North 7th Street between West Peach and Reed avenues, turned himself in to Eunice Police Thomas, of 210 N. 7th St.

Concealed carry class planned March 27 in Eunice

The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a one-day concealed carry permit class at 7:30 a.m. March 27 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course is $100 dollars and $80 for a spouse. The course includes fingerprints, notary or online help, application, classroom, range, and a hot Cajun meal.
