The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. March 17 Keavonte Malik Rideau, 21, 1600 block of Leday Street, Opelousas. Illegal possession of stolen firearms. Arrested by Opelousas Police. Joshua Michael Theriot, 36, 1300 block of Division Road, Arnaudville.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. March 16 Quince Heath Guidry, 48, 400 block of South 2nd Street, Eunice. Child desertion.

Suspect in Eunice shooting surrenders

Jasten Thomas, 18, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for his involvement in the March 7 shooting that occurred on North 7th Street between West Peach and Reed avenues, turned himself in to Eunice Police Thomas, of 210 N. 7th St.

Concealed carry class planned March 27 in Eunice

The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a one-day concealed carry permit class at 7:30 a.m. March 27 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course is $100 dollars and $80 for a spouse. The course includes fingerprints, notary or online help, application, classroom, range, and a hot Cajun meal.

Parish president says he asked for animal control probe

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard said he asked for an investigation into the parish Animal Control Center after taking office in August 2020. The St. Landry Parish Animal Control Center’s former director was arrested, booked on theft charges and malfeasance in office Friday.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. March 15 Greg Jermaine Leday, 22, 900 block of Granger St., Jennings. Improper supervision of a minor by a parent or legal custodian. Shknowca Atieka Richard, 45, 400 block of Corn, Eunice.
