Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. May 14 Dondrey Denton, 40, 200 block of Natalie Street, Eunice. Disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. Heather Lynn Fontenot, 44, 600 block of Bernice Street, Eunice. Aggravated second-degree battery and domestic abuse child endangerment.

Driver arrested in wreck that killed motorcyclist

Louisiana State Police troopers executed an arrest warrant on the driver of the May 4 fatal crash, 62-year-old Vikke Wright Broussard. On Thursday, Broussard was arrested without incident and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on failure to yield at stop sign/yield sign and vehicular homicide.

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, left, and City Marshal Terry Darbonne introduced a safe exchange zone in front of the Eunice Municipal Complex. The area is monitored by video surveillance and is available for use for uses such as custody and property exchanges.

Sheriff reports record heroin bust; 4 arrested

A four-week investigation netted a record amount of heroin seized and the arrest of four people on Wednesday, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated in a news release. Guidroz said the drug bust occurred in three locations in Opelousas and Sunset.

Opelousas man arrested on second-degree murder charge

A 25-year-old Opelousas man has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge in connection with a shooting in Melville, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. But his court date was delayed because the suspect had to undergo surgery for a previous gunshot wound.
