St. Landry Parish Jail escapee may be headed to Eunice

A 34-year-old Eunice man escaped from the St. Landry Parish Jail at about 9 p.m. Sunday when returning from a work detail and may be headed to Eunice, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Man wounded in Sunday shooting; family squabble suspected

A family squabble is believed to be behind a shooting that occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday at East Maple Avenue and Carron Street, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. The wounded man was in a vehicle when he shot in the shoulder from a person believed to be on foot, Fontenot said.

Tips sought in Best Marine burglaries

Lt. James Bergeron of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is requesting help in solving multiple burglaries at a Eunice business. Best Marine located in the 200 block of Murphy Richard Loop was the victim of a burglary on Jan. 21.

Crowley Police officers seized nearly 30 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop here Feb. 4. According to Police Chief Jimmy Broussard, officers conducted a traffic stop in the East Ash Street area on a vehicle being driven by Jeremy Williams, 34, of Crowley.

Female suspect in Branch killing found in Church Pt.

The second suspect in the shooting death of a Church Point man has been located, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson. Tyla Meche, 34, of Church Point was found Thursday afternoon hiding in a residence on the Church Point Highway just north of Branch, Gibson said.
