Grand Jury issues true bill in two deadly matters

An Evangeline Parish grand jury issued two true bill of indictments after it assembled on Thursday to hear evidence presented by the Evangeline Parish District Attorney’s Office in two separate matters. Indicted were Jessica Williams for manslaughter and Brandon Perkins for second degree murder.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Aug. 27 Greg Jernisky Vidito, 23, 300 block of West Berthand Avenue, Opelousas. Theft (two counts), criminal trespass. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department.

One injured in Sunday ‘drive-by’

CROWLEY - Police here are investigating a shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning that left one person injured. Police Chief Jimmy Broussard said the shooting was reported in the 300 block of West Third Street at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
