MOREAUVILLE – Avoyelles used the game clock to their favor as the Mustangs grabbed a 34-7 win over the Eunice Bobcats. Eunice stopped the Mustangs on fourth down in the opening possession of the game and the two offenses then exchanged fumbles.

Jays down Basile, 35-21

BASILE – In the Battle of Bayou Des Cannes, St. Edmund claimed a 35-21 win over Basile. It was an impressive outing for the Blue Jay offense as Luke Vidrine completed 12-of-18 passes for 308 yards. St. Edmund added 131 yards on the ground to finish with 439 yards of total offense.

Lafayette man dead after boating incident

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred in Catahoula Parish on Sunday. The body of Kevin E. Evans, 50, of Lafayette, was turned over to the Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
