St. Ed’s closes year at state meet

BATON ROUGE – The sports year ended Thursday for several St. Edmund athletes at the Class 1-A state track meet. Kieran Davis finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.52. Clay Miller finished sixth in the javelin competition with a throw of 141-02.

Blue Jays earn golf’s state runners-up

LAFAYETTE – It was a strong showing for St. Edmund in the Division IV boys’ competition in the LHSAA State Golf Championship as the Blue Jays finished as the state runners-up.

Blue Jays head to state track meet

NEW IBERIA – St. Edmund qualified in eight events for the state track meet after strong performances at the LHSAA 1-A Region II competition held at New Iberia Senior High. The 1-A state meet will be held Thursday at LSU’s Bernie Moore track complex.

Lady Jays shine at state

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor FORSYTHE – The St. Edmund tennis team sent nine players to the LHSAA state tennis tournament. Greta Miller and Savannah DeVillier opened the playoffs with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-3 win over St. Mary’s Maggie Gilmore and Sheridan Pesnell.

Bobcats earn walk-off win

It was a dramatic way to open the Class 4-A playoffs for the Bobcats. Zach Suire scored when Dylan Guillory drew a bases-loaded walk to lift No. 15 Eunice to a 6-5 win over No. 18 Northwood of Shreveport.

Blue Jays visit CHPC Hornets

The Blue Jays will face a familiar foe as St. Edmund opens the Division IV baseball playoffs Friday at Catholic High of Pointe Coupee. No. 5 Catholic High-PC (23-7) will host the best-of-three series that begins at 4 p.m. Friday. The second game is set for 11 a.m.

Locals shine at district meets

The St. Edmund track team performed well at the District 5-A meet and will compete in several events at the regionals to be held today at New Iberia Senior High. The Blue Jays and Lady Jays finished as district runners-up behind Westminster Christian Academy.

Moosa leads EMTL

With three weeks left in the Eunice Mens Tennis League spring competition, the battle for the final two top spots continues. After nine weeks, Team Moosa leads with 48 points, followed by Team Eckholdt (44), Team Ashford (38) and Team D’Aubin.
