By Tom Dodge Sports Editor St. Edmund exploded for eight runs in the first inning as the Blue Jays rolled to a 10-0 win over Pine Prairie. The Blue Jays (12-5) will hold a doubleheader on Saturday against Kaplan. David Evans singled and later scored on a Pine Prairie balk.

Lady Bobcats down St. Edmund

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor In a game between rivals, Eunice jumped out to an early lead as the Lady Bobcats earned a 12-7 win over the St. Edmund Lady Jays. Eunice scored seven runs in the first inning, begun when Sydni Miller walked and crossed home plate on a hit by Brooklyn Darbonne.

LDWF agents help rescue boaters from the Atchafalaya River

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents participated in a successful search and rescue mission in Avoyelles Parish on March 11. LDWF Cpl. Douglas Anderson received a call around 4 p.m.

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor LAFAYETTE – It was a thriller as Eunice faced Carencro Monday at Louisiana’s M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park. Eunice pushed across four runs in the fourth inning and the Bobcats held on for an 8-6 win over the Carencro Golden Bears.

St. Edmund wins on Blue Jay Legends Night

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor St. Edmund baseball legends Scott Richard, Carlton Loewer and Kevin Ardoin were honored Tuesday in a pre-game ceremony. A banner celebrating the Jays’ six state titles was also unveiled. As a player and coach Richard was part of state titles in 1980, 1988, 1991 and 1996.

Reward raised to $15,000 for Info on whooping crane killing near Mamou

The Center for Biological Diversity increased the total reward to $15,000 for information leading to a conviction in the illegal killing of a whooping crane near Mamou. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced a $5,000 reward last week, and the Center is boosting the amount by $10,000.
