Former athletic director sues over demotion

A former athletic director at North Central High School is suing the St. Landry Parish School Board and former Superintendent Patrick Jenkins asserting she was unfairly demoted. Vanessa Taylor filed suit on April 26 in the 27th Judicial District Court.

All-District 3-4A softball team released

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor After a second-place finish in District 3-4A, Eunice had eight softball players earn all-district honors. Four of the six teams made the playoffs, including No. 11 Eunice as the Lady Bobcats grabbed a 9-8 thriller over No. 20 Lakeshore in a bi-district contest.

Spring squirrel hunting season begins Sunday

The Louisiana spring squirrel hunting season begins Sunday in most parts of Louisiana and lasts until May 26, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) said. Squirrel hunting is the perfect gateway for hunting and a great introduction for youth into the sport.
