LSCA All-State softball team

The post season accolades continue for several area softhall players as the 2018 Louisiana Softball Coaches All-Stste teams have been released. St. Edmund senior shortstop Gabby Fontenot and senior pitcher Maggie Larrievere (were named to Class 1-A All-State team.

Local trio heads to showcase

LAKE CHARLES – Eunice High juniors Austin Phillips and Tyler Darbonne, along with Iota High junior Hunter Wriborg have been selected to play today in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. at the McNeese baseball stadium. The showcase is called the Louisiana/Texas shootout.

Manuel signs with LSUA

Bobcats defeat Gators

The Eunice Bobcats scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 14-4 victory over the Beau Chene Gators in baseball action Thursday at the LSU-Eunice Tournament.

St. Ed’s Marcantel is on Class 1-A All-State team

Cedar Creek’s Katelin Cooper suited up for one of the state’s premier high school softball programs, while Landon Leblanc helped return St. John baseball to its past glory.For their efforts, the duo received the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s top individual honors in Class 1A.

Mahfouz inducted into Eunice High Sports Hall of Fame

A man who never won a state championship was the first high school coach inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Mahfouz has now been inducted into the Eunice High Sports Hall of Fame. Mahfouz joins Dana Jenkins in receiving the honor.

All-Parish teams released

Players from both Eunice High School and St. Edmund earned positions on the 2018 All-Parish baseball team as voted on by the St. Landry Parish head coaches.

Millers cruise past Rayne in season opener

The Crowley Millers kicked off the 2018 American Legion season with a bang Wednesday, using a pair of big innings to cruise past the Rayne Wolves, 10-3, in a non-district contest at Legion Field.
