Despite the fact that the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers are on their way to the LHSAA playoffs this coming week, both squads were hoping to finish the season on a winning note.

Red Devils use late surge to upend Gents

The Crowley Gents rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough in a 10-9 loss to Port Barre Thursday afternoon. The Gents (5-22, 3-7) overcame a 4-2 deficit in the top of the sixth when they pushed across four runs on five hits to take a 6-4 advantage.

Bobcats rout Raiders

The Eunice Bobcats completed a two-game sweep of the Northwest Raiders in District 5-3A baseball action. In the first game of the series, Bobcat freshman pitcher Braiden Rider limited the Raiders to one run in the first three innings of the contest.

Jays win on senior night

He was the only Blue Jay senior and Phillip Fontenot earned the spotlight as St. Edmund rolled to a 17-0 mercy-rule win over South Cameron. Fontenot threw a complete game shut out as he allowed two hits over five innings with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Iota cruises past Lady Cats, 16-4

Iota clinched third place in District 5-3A with a 16-4 win over the Eunice Lady Bobcats Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs (22-8, 11-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead, begun when Makenzie Droddy singled and scored on a hit by Greta Fontenot. Teri Johnson bunted and scored on a Lady Cat error.
