St. Edmund opened the season with a 35-6 win over Hanson Memorial and the Blue Jays had chances to win in the 29-21 loss to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.
The Bobcats rushed for 217 yards and passed for 105 more in Eunice’s 24-0 season-opening win over Opelousas High.
It was a battle to the end as Sacred Heart of Ville Platte scored with 2:07 left in the game to lift the Trojans to a 29-21 win over rival St. Edmund.
The fight between the two historic rivals was to be expected when Jennings visited Eunice High Friday night to take on the No. 7 Bobcats.
In the third season of their existence, the Eunice High volleyball team is working hard to get better, according to head coach Wayne Fontenot.
“I’m very pleased with the team’s work ethic,” said Fontenot.
The Eunice – Jennings football rivalry is the longest series on the Bobcats schedule that includes the 1982 state championship game.
