Bobcats sweep Green Demons

The Eunice High Bobcats completed a two-game series sweep against the Mamou High Green Demons in District 5-3A baseball action at Bobcat Field on Tuesday. The Bobcats had taken a 17-4 victory in the first meeting at Mamou last week.

Lady Jays win district title

The celebration would have been bigger with a win, but St. Edmund captured its first district softball championship since 2004 Monday on Senior Day. St. Edmund earned the 2001 district championship over Mamou and then shared the title with Merryville in 2004.

Lady Warriors blast Hackberry

The Northside Christian Lady Warriors continued their dominance in District 7-C play Wednesday with a 17-1 thumping of Hackberry. The Lady Warriors (15-4, 5-0) have now outscored their league opponents 82-22 in five games. Against Hackberry, the Lady Warriors banged out 11 hits in two innings.

LSUE tops NJCAA stats

With both teams ranked in the top five of the NJCAA baseball and softball polls, LSU Eunice also leads the nation in several key categories. The top-ranked Bengals lead Division II with 128 stolen bases and presently second with 84 doubles.

Blue Jays crush Oberlin, 13-5

The Blue Jays exploded for eight runs in the first inning as St. Edmund rolled to 13-5 District 4-1A win over Oberlin. Payton Marcantel singled and scored on a hit by Brock Bieber. Jack Miller singled and scored on an error.

Bobcats earn sweep over Panthers

Eunice High claimed a sweep of the Pine Prairie Panthers in District 5-3A baseball action played at Bobcat Field Thursday. The game swung back and forth between the two teams for much of the game as the Bobcats earned an 8-7 victory.

Iota’s Lady Dogs use 10-run outburst to pull away from Rayne

The Iota Lady Bulldogs scored runs in six of seven innings Monday, including a 10-run outburst in the final frame, in cruising to their 17th victory of the season, a 19-3 thumping of Rayne in a non-district contest at the Lady Wolves’ home park.

The Rayville Hornets completed a quest of perfection. The North Caddo Lady Rebels winning their fourth title in five years. The St. Katharine Drexel Lady Jackets earning their first title against a New Orleans rival. The 2018 season can be summed up in one word for those three programs. Historic.

Lady Bulldogs claim Iota Relays team title

Chloe Smith and Rose Regan combined for 54 of Iota’s 130 points last week to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to the team title in the 2018 Iota Bulldog Relays. Lake Arthur finished a distant second in the team standings with 60 points and Kinder was third with 56.
