Pine Prairie runs past Lady Cats

PINE PRAIRIE – The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers improved to 9-1 overall after crusing past the Eunice Lady Bobcats 16-5. With the win over Eunice the Lady Panthers are now 3-0 in District 5-3A play, while the Lady Cats are 3-10 overall, 1-3 in district.

Bobcats clip Saints

LAKE CHARLES – The Eunice High School Bobcats improved their overall record to 6-5 with a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Saints in non-district baseball action.

Young-Frey tournament starts Thursday

The annual John R. Young/Frey Holding Corporation baseball tournament continues to expand each year. “We joined with St. Edmund to have a city tournament where both schools could make some money and play some good teams,” Eunice High head baseball coach Scott Phillips said.

Bobcats split tourney games

The Eunice High Baseball team completed play in the DeRidder High Baseball Tournament with a 8-2 loss to Calvary Baptist and a 20-5 win over Leesville.

Blue Jays down Panthers

It what turned out to be a defensive standoff, St. Edmund earned a 3-1 win Monday over Pine Prairie at Blue Jay Field. St. Edmund pitcher Brock Bieber and Remi Guillory limited Pine Prairie to just four hits and five shutout innings before the Panthers scored a run in the sixth frame.

Lady Jays roll in home opener

St. Edmund exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to seal a 16-1 win over Abbeville Monday in the Lady Jays’ home opener. St. Edmund jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, begun when Jaedyn Soileau and Jamie Fuselier both singled and scored on a triple by Gabby Fontenot.

Bobcats improve to 3-0

The Eunice Bobcats improved their record to 3-0 with a 15-5 run-rule victory over the Pineville High Rebels in baseball action Thursday at Bobcat Field. The game was played as part of the DeRidder High Tournament, with the Rebels coming to Eunice High due to inclement weather in the DeRidder area.

Lady Cats fall to Crowley

The Eunice Lady Bobcats struggled in its District 5-3A opener Thursday as Crowley rolled to a 18-0 mercy-rule win. Eunice (1-1) will entertain Jennings at 5 p.m. Monday before visiting district rival Church Point on Tuesday.

Iota’s season ends in quarterfinals

LORANGER — Iota’s season ended in the Class 3-A quarterfinals the Loranger Lady Wolves rolling to a 59-35 victory. No. 2 Loranger will play District rival No. 6 Albany at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria. Albany defeated Northwest 56-41 to advance to the semifinals.
