Five St. Edmund Lady Jays were selected as part of the 5-1A All-District basketball team. St. Edmund junior Gabby Fontenot was voted to the first team as the Lady Jays finished in a a four-way tie for second place behind district champion North Central.

Eunice High’s Katelyn Joubert ripped a double to score Destiny Edwards in the bottom of the seventh as the Lady Bobcats earned a 8-7 walk-off win Tuesday over the Port Barre Lady Devils. Trailing 7-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Cats began their comeback surge.

Lady Jays grab 5-1 win

For four innings it was a defensive struggle between Westgate and St. Edmund. Then the Lady Jays exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth frame as St. Edmund earned a 5-1 win.

Lady Jays head to state meet

They have already made history as the first girls power lifting team at St. Edmund. But seniors Mallory Allain, Lucy Brown, Kathryn Leger along with junior Blaire Allain want to leave their mark in the school’s record books. “When people ask us how long we have been doing this,” Mallory said.
