Bobcats split games in tourney

LAKE CHARLES – The Bobcats split a double-header in the Westlake tournament as Eunice won 18-3 against Merryville but fell short against DeQuincy, 8-7.

Lady Cats grab wins

OAKDALE – The Lady Bobcats grabbed two wins in the Oakdale tournament to improve 2-2 on the early softball season. After an 11-5 loss to Pitkin to open the tournament, the Lady Cats regrouped for wins over South Beauregard and South Cameron.

OAKDALE – The Lady Jays improved to 5-0 on the season as St. Edmund grabbed three wins over the weekend at the Oakdale softball tournament. St. Edmund opened the Lady Warrior tournament with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over South Beauregard.

PORT BARRE – St. Edmund exploded for four runs in the top of the sixth inning as the Lady Jays grabbed a 6-3 road win Thursday over the Port Barre Lady Devils. Lady Jay lead-off batter Jaedyn Soileau walked to begin the game, stole second and scored on a throwing error to give St. Edmund a 1-0 lead.

Jamborees kick off baseball, softball seasons

The baseball and softball seasons are approaching as area teams participate in jamborees this week. The 2020 Perry Pitre Ford baseball jamboree will be held at both Bobcat Field and Blue Jay Field. The junior varsity jamboree will be held Friday at both fields. At 3 p.m.

Blue Jays roll past UA Lions, 64-50

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead as St. Edmund earned a 64-50 win Tuesday over University Academy of Central Louisiana. The Lions scored first, but the Blue Jays answered with a 13-0 surge including seven points from Easten Coleman.
