St. Edmund honors senior baseball players

St. Edmund Blue Jay Baseball honored senior players. The seniors presented their mothers (escorts) with flowers.

4-4A All-District boys team named

Rayne captured the 2019-20 boys basketball title and dominated the All-District 4-4A top honors as Leon Smith earned MVP honors and Darrell Caesar was named district Coach of the Year.

5-1A All-District list released

It was a sweep of the Class 1-A basketball championships as both North Central teams won state titles.

4-4A All-District list released

Eunice High placed three players on the All-District 4-4A list including senior Shaniya Toussaint as a first team selection. Class 4-A champion LaGrange dominated the list as Jeriah Warren was named district MVP. No. 1 LaGrange (29-2) defeated No. 6 Warren Easton 46-31 in the championship game.

5-1A All-District list released

The North Central Lady Hurricanes captured the Class 1-A state championship with a 50-39 win over Merryville. North Central (22-7, 5-0) also cruised through District 5-1A play and placed six players on the all-district list including MVP Fredricka Keller.

Friday, March 13th, 2020 is a date the high school athletes will always remember when Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a 30 day suspension of schools, school activities and facilities.

If it was the final softball game of the 2020 season, the St. Edmund Lady Jays went out with an impressive 13-0 mercy-rule win over Welsh.

Lady Cats grab win

By Tom Dodge Sports Editor LAKE CHARLES – After falling 14-0 to North Vermilion to begin District 4-4A play, the Lady Bobcats responded with a 15-0 mercy-rule victory over LaGrange. Eunice (4-5, 1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning as the first four batters walked.

Lady Jays roll past LaGrange

LAKE CHARLES – The Lady Jays improved to 11-1 on the season as St. Edmund cruised to a 16-0 mercy-rule victory over LaGrange. Lady Jay pitcher Karleigh Soileau struck out 13 batters and scattered two hits over the five-inning contest.
