Lady Bobcats fall in Acadiana High tourney

SCOTT – Eunice battled the Lady Rams in the first half before Acadiana High earned a 41-34 win over the Lady Bobcats. Acadiana High (5-2) jumped out to a 16-10 first quarter lead, aided by six points from Nikki Goodman.

Blue Jays fall to Vinton, 47-30

St. Edmund opened with a 7-0 run against the Lions, but Vinton finished with a 47-30 victory over the Blue Jays. Kieran Davis scored on a put-back bucket, Henry Brown nailed a trey and Esston Coleman scored in the lane as St. Edmund jumped out to an early lead.

Kaplan downs Lady Jays

The Lady Jays kept the game close in the first half before Kaplan rolled to 51-34 win over St. Edmund. The Lady Pirates (4-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead before free throws by Savannah DeVillier and Mary Beth Lafleur helped St. Edmund (3-2) close the gap to 5-3.

Lady Jays fall in Turkey Tourney finale

VILLE PLATTE – French Settlement jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead as the Lady Lions rolled to a 63-39 win over St. Edmund Wednesday in the Turkey Tournament held at Sacred Heart of Ville Platte. The Lady Jays (3-1) will entertain Kaplan at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Bastrop ends Bobcats’ season

BASTROP – It was a two-point conversion that proved to be the difference as No. 8 Bastrop edged No. 9 Eunice 8-7 in the second round of the Class 4-A playoffs. Eunice finished the season with a 9-2 overall record, while Bastrop (9-2) advances the quarterfinals to face No. 1 Lakeshore.

Bobcats face tough road test

It could be the toughest test the Bobcats have faced all season as No. 9 Eunice visits No. 8 Bastrop for a second round match-up. “We will have to have a great overall team effort,” Eunice High head football coach Paul Trosclair said.

Lady Bobcats win season opener

Eunice High’s Shaynia Toussaint hit two free throws with four seconds left to help lift the Lady Bobcats to a 42-41 win over Kaplan in the season opener. The Lady Pirates grabbed an 8-6 first quarter lead, aided by a three-pointer from Alyia Broussard.

Bobcats slip past Plaquemine

The No. 9 ranked Eunice Bobcats defeated the number 23 ranked Plaquemine with a 35-27 victory. The Bobcats will take on Bastrop in the second round of the playoffs. Jeoul Hill got it started for the Bobcats with a four-yard rushing touchdown on a sweep play.

BATON ROUGE –Southern Lab ended the Blue Jays’ season as the Kittens rolled to a 53-7 win over No. 11 St. Edmund at A.W. Mumford Stadium. “It wasn’t the way we wanted the season to end,” St. Edmund head coach James Shiver said.
