Judy Kittles, children’s librarian, read from Mary Alice Fontenot’s Clovis Crawfish series of books, “Clovis Crawfish and Echo Gecko.” Afterwards, children had the opportunity to create their own Echo Gecko. The older children were in a separate room crafting a gecko.

Coloring Contest Winners named at library

The Summer Reading program at the library included a Summer Coloring Contest page for registrants to participate. Winners were named and those received a special prize for their hard work and talent. There were 14 coloring page entries for the contest.

Summer time fun officially began at the Eunice Public Library Wednesday morning with its first Story Time hour. Many children and parents were upstairs in the Children’s library read to listen to Children’s Librarian Judy Kittles read from Mary Alice Fontenot’s Clovis Crawfish series.

Each spring the Eunice Rotary Club members give scholarships to two seniors from St. Edmund High and two seniors from Eunice High School. The $1,000 each scholarship to LSU Eunice was presented Wednesday to Alex Fontenot, left, and Tanzy Miller, right, both St. Edmund High graduating seniors.

Preparing students for life is goal of New Orleans workshop

By Johnny Morgan, LSU AgCenter NEW ORLEANS — A group of 10 teenagers from throughout the city spent all day June 2 learning valuable life skills at the Orleans Parish 4-H Healthy Living Workshop.
