After the completion of the St. Francis School eighth-grade volleyball games, the student body was treated to an entertaining afternoon with eighth-grade girls playing against their mothers. Opelousas General Health System would like to congratulate Amber Smith and Xavier Williams on the birth of their son, Zaiden Williams, the first baby born at OGHS this year. Baby Williams was born on his due date at 1:44 p.m., Jan. 1 weighing 7 lbs 10 oz. Dr. Damian Badeaux, obstetrician delivered baby Williams and Dr. Mia Ben is his pediatrician. Zaiden is the first child born to Smith and Williams. They were presented with a congratulatory basket from the Labor and Delivery department. BATON ROUGE – The LSU AgCenter and the Gulf District of the American Rose Society will present a midwinter workshop on rose care on Feb. 10-11 at the Clarion Inn Conference Center and Hotel in Gonzales.
The program is open to members of the American Rose Society, Master Gardeners, home gardeners and others interested in roses, said AgCenter horticulturist Allen Owings.
The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by Ronnie Matthews Band.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Show starts at 6 p.m.
Advanced tickets are $15.
Starting at 10 a.m. at the Jean Lafitte, children can participate in arts and crafts, all free of charge.

The Junior Auxiliary of Eunice held its third Annual Jingle Bell Rock and Run 5K on Dec. 1 with a route following Park Avenue. There were 121 participants. The fundraiser’s proceeds will benefit the children of the community through upcoming events and activities.
