Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Brea Rougeau, a sophomore at Eunice High School. Her parents are Darrell and Lorena Rougeau. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Atlanta because there are alot of opportunities there.

Locks of Love donation

Shawna Marie Manuel, 8, a second grade student at Glendale Elementary donated 8 inches of cut hair to the Locks of Love. Carmen Reaux, a hair stylist at Patrick’s Pro Cut, cut her hair. Manuel is the great granddaughter of Louis and Janet McGee of Eunice.

Birth Announcements

Henry Zaunbrecher John Lawrence and Erin Clause Zaunbrecher of Iota announce the birth of their son, Henry Charles Zaunbrecher, born at Acadian Medical Center on May 16 weighing 7 pounds and 5 ounces. Maternal grandparents are David Clause and Kathryn LaHaye Clause of Eunice.

La Recolte at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center will feature a performance by La Recolte. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5. Starting at 10 a.m.

Let’s pay tribute to all military

A Memorial Day remembrance ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Monday at South Second Street and Park Avenue near the fountain. The event will recognize all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, gives the origins of Memorial Day.

EJHS band earns trophy

Kelly Sonnier, a seventh-grader band member at Eunice Jr. High School is with her band director Lawrence Sassau. The junior high band earned a superior rating at a recent state level competition. Sonnier has been playing the flute since fifth grade, and she is the daughter of Mike and Becky Sonnier.

Brown winner of St. Edmund High Senior Legacy project

Among the top awards given during the St. Edmund High Academic Pep Rally held May 9 was the Senior Legacy project winner, Lucy Brown. Brown was among nine top finalists. St. Edmund seniors were required to develop a legacy, a gift, and pass it onto the St. Edmund School community before graduation.
