Scholarships given during St. Edmund High Senior class night

St. Edmund High School held its Senior awards Night May 19 where seniors received academic awards, scholarships, honors and recognition. The program began with the traditional school’s “Passing of the Candle,” with the senior class president Kylie Hebert.

MLK committee awards $5,000 in scholarships

Members of the Eunice Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. City-wide celebration committee announces the recent scholarship senior winners based on the following criteria: a combination of need, academic ability, and community involvement. A total of $5,000 was awarded to Eunice graduating seniors.

FBC Women on Missions feed police officers

First Baptist Church of Eunice’s Women on Missions group cooked and served a luncheon for Eunice Police officers and Eunice City marshals as an appreciation for their service to the community. The lunch menu consisted of chicken spaghetti, green beans, cole slaw, garlic bread, corn and desserts.

SLEDD CTE Educator of the Year Award

Danny Soileau, a Eunice Career & Technical Education Welding I & II instructor, was chosen the SLEDD CTE Educator Award recipient for the 2016-2017 school year. This award recognizes excellence and dedication within the field of career and techical education among St.

Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Brea Rougeau, a sophomore at Eunice High School. Her parents are Darrell and Lorena Rougeau. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Atlanta because there are alot of opportunities there.

Locks of Love donation

Shawna Marie Manuel, 8, a second grade student at Glendale Elementary donated 8 inches of cut hair to the Locks of Love. Carmen Reaux, a hair stylist at Patrick’s Pro Cut, cut her hair. Manuel is the great granddaughter of Louis and Janet McGee of Eunice.

Birth Announcements

Henry Zaunbrecher John Lawrence and Erin Clause Zaunbrecher of Iota announce the birth of their son, Henry Charles Zaunbrecher, born at Acadian Medical Center on May 16 weighing 7 pounds and 5 ounces. Maternal grandparents are David Clause and Kathryn LaHaye Clause of Eunice.

La Recolte at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center will feature a performance by La Recolte. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5. Starting at 10 a.m.
