The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5. Starting at 10 a.m.

The history of the American flag

Although Flag Day was established as a formal national holiday in 1949, it was not made a federal holiday. Flag Day is only an official holiday in the state of Pennsylvania. This may be fitting because legend holds that Betsy Ross sewed the first flag in Pennsylvania.

End of the year program at Eunice Career & Technical Education Center

Eunice Career & Technical Education Center held its end of the year program May 17. Faciliator at the center Lisa Fuselier said, “We are ecstatic to announce that our students earned 108 industry-based certifications this year and 140 hours of dual enrollment credit.

'Fly High' Gavin Dupre, balloons released at Central Middle School

Central Middle School students, teachers and staff released balloons Thursday in honor, memory and a farewell to a classmate and student Gavin Dupre. Dupre, 12, was a sixth-grader at the middle school. Dupre, the son of Buddy Dupre and Nicole Renee St. Amand, died on May 8.

Fruge collects stuffed animals for Eunice Police

A sixth-grader from Central Middle School, David Fruge, collected 11 garbage bags of gently used and new stuffed animals. The civic minded youth started about two months ago by getting the word out through school, friends and his mother’s social media means.

Residential Garden of the Month selected

The home of Pat and Nancy Guillory located on the Perchville Road was presented the May Residential Yard sign by Bulb and Blossom Garden Club member, Lynn Pavich. The yard and flowering beds include large oak trees surrounded by beds of iron plants and impatients.
