Tri-Parish Catholic Retreat held at St. Mathilda Catholic Church

On Jan. 28 students from the three Catholic churches in Eunice, St. Mathilda, St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Thomas More, met at St. Mathilda’s Bishop Ceasar Hall for a Youth Retreat. More than 100 youth were in attendance. Speakers in attendance kept the focus of day on the Beatitudes of Christ.

St. Edmund High Senior Legacy Project

In the spring of 2016, John Hanson Fruge’s year long project on the benefits of utilizing the science lab took first place in the St. Edmund Senior Legacy Project. Over the summer, the administration began implementation of upgrading the science lab using several components outlined by Fruge.

Class Act Student of the Week

St. Francis 4-Her 'racks up'

Emily Zaunbrecher, a 4-H member at St. Francis School, racked up the ribbons when she competed at the District Livestock show in Lake Charles recently. Zaunbrecher placed first in showmanship with her sheep; first place in sheep category; second place sheep; and second place with her steer.

Catholic Schools Week at St. Francis

During Catholic Schools Week at St. Francis School the school participated in collective cleaning supplies for Ms. Helen’s Soup Kitchen in Crowley. Ms. Helen’s provides meals each day for the less fortunate. Their food is donated, but not cleaning supplies.

Sonnier at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature performances by Johnny Sonnier and Jimmy Breaux. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5. Starting at 10 a.m.

Fontenot, Vidrine announce May wedding

Kerry and Fran Fontenot of Eunice are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Aungelle Leah Fontenot, to Trent Collins Vidrine, son of Phil and Sheila Vidrine of Duralde. Miss Fontenot is the granddaughter of Lessie and Betty Fontenot and the late Virgie L.
