Ja’Nessa Lavan Elmira Lavan announces the birth of her daughter, Ja’Nessa Telisa Dior Lavan, born at Acadian Medical Center on June 5 weighing 6 pounds and 15.6 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Telisa Nicole Lavan of Oberlin and Erick Neal Lavan Sr.

Don’t forget your father Sunday, as Father’s Day is recognized. Dads do a lot for their families, and Father’s Day is the perfect time to acknowledge those efforts. The days when dads would receive a colorful necktie for Father’s Day are largely (and, for fathers, thankfully) a relic of the past.

Bulb & Blossom Garden Club reports May meeting

The May meeting of the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club was hosted by member Martha Guempel. Guempel had a lovely outdoor setting for the meeting, and served a delicious taco casserole and salad and a traditional Mexican flan prepared by Joyce Johnson.

St. Edmund Rodeo members qualify for state finals

All members in St. Edmund Rodeo Club qualified for the state finals rodeo. The following Blue Jays were able to compete at the Louisiana Junior and High School Finals Rodeo, which was held at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles. Junior High competed May 24-26 and High School competed May 30-June 1.
