Firefighters tell their story about Nick’s fire

About 100 firefighters battled Saturday’s fire

The landmark Nick’s on 2nd, a place were people in the Eunice area celebrate weddings, elections and just getting together, was destroyed by fire Saturday. Eunice firefighters were dispatched to Nick’s at 11:53 a.m.

Acadia Parish school chief selected

It took only two votes in less than 30 minutes for the Acadia Parish School Board to select Carol Dailey-Tall as the next superintendent of public schools here on Tuesday.

Plan for Eunice downtown develops

From Tuesday through Thursday a Eunice Downtown Roadmap is under development. The first public session was held Tuesday at Gabrielle’s where Randy Wilson, president of Community Design Solutions, guided about 50 people through a series of questions about the downtown and the city.

Tri-Parish workforce grows by 150 in April

The Tri-Parish workforce grew by 150 jobs, but the growth was held down by a 200 job loss in St. Landry Parish in data for April released Louisiana Workforce Commission. The total workforce was 68,343, up from 68,193 in April 2023. The Tri-Parish April workforce counts for April are: — St.

Remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice

The Memorial Day ceremony is held as a solemn event to celebrate “these people’s lives” said VFW Commander Donnie Fontenot as he stood near the monument with those who died in service to the nation.

Pictures taken on Sunday at 11 a.m. shows the aftermath of a major fire that destroyed Nick’s on 2nd. The family owned restaurant for many years in downtown Eunice caught fire Saturday. Eunice firefighters and many other area firefighters fought several hours on putting out the fire.
