The following people obtained marriage licenses from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office, Opelousas. Thursday, April 11 Brent Dale Langley of Mamou and Shelly Lynn Smith of Mamou. Ngoc Bich Le of Broussard and Kyle Keith Alcock of Broussard.

Acadia Parish road crews returning to 4-day work week

The Acadia Parish Road Department is returning to a four-day, 10-hour-a-day work week schedule. The decision to return to that schedule was voted on at the April 9 Acadia Parish Police Jury meeting.

KEB Clean-up Day is Saturday The statewide Love the Boot cleanup will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. with registration Saturday at the Eunice City Hall. All supply pickup will be located in the lobby of city hall. Volunteers will be asked to pick up all trash from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Ville Platte alderwoman indicted for election fraud

Prosecutors with Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Office obtained a 36 count grand jury indictment in Evangeline Parish on April 10 regarding voter fraud between May and November of 2022 during the general election.

Eunice photographer’s work featured in book

“Courir,” 128-page book published in France with photographs depicting Mardi Gras runs in rural Acadiana, will be on sale at a book launch held at Fred’s Lounge, 420 6th St. in Mamou, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Heritage experts tour Acadiana

The sound in the Liberty Theatre on Tuesday morning was a cacophony of instruments and yet about 80 visitors from across the nation seemed happy as they could be creating the musical chaos.
