The Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors at its April meeting approved a request from LSU Eunice Chancellor Nancee Sorenson to create a proposal to bring the research center to life.

Employee’s suit says school was toxic, made her sick

A former Eunice Junior High School employee has filed suit against the St. Landry Parish School Board charging the school’s environment was toxic and made her sick. Sharon K. Dietz filed suit on April 19 in the 27th Judicial District Court naming the school district and its insurer.

Botanist details nature’s edible bounty

Did you know that a Yaupon Holly has caffeine in it? According to Rick Pavlu, a botanist, a great source of Vitamin C can come from Loblolly Pine pine needles. The Loblolly Pine’s botanical name is, “Pinus taeda.” Pavlu was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting.

Rain on Thursday did not stop the observance of the National Day of Prayer. The program, normally held outdoors at the City Hall, was moved inside to the lobby for a noon ceremony.
