With Louisiana State Police facing possible consequences for civil rights violations, the state’s incoming leaders will bring in a go-to law firm for law enforcement agencies under federal investigation.

DeVillier takes another step closer to House’s top job

State Rep. Phillip DeVillier passed another step on his way to becoming speaker of the House. On Monday, Republican House members nominated DeVillier for speaker and Rep. Mike Johnson, of Pineville, as speaker pro-tem. The nominations were made in a party caucus.

Santa Story Hour at the library Dec. 13 The Eunice Public Library will have a Santa Story Hour at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 on the children’s floor. There will be pictures with Santa, Story telling, Sign Language, songs, Holiday craft and treats.

Jobless rates up, workforce expands in Tri-Parish

Tri-Parish unemployment rates rose in October while the workforce increased by 233 people, according to a Louisiana Workforce Commission report released Wednesday. The workforce count, which includes those employed and seeking a job, totaled 67,571 for the Tri-Parish area, up 233 people or 0.
