Bulk waste problem won’t go away

A problem with the removal of bulk waste from Eunice streets remains a problem and the issue was aired again at the Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday. “Our city has never looked like this before,” said Mayor Scott Fontenot about the roadside debris.

Performance, mastery scores

2023 performance score ranges are: A, 90 to 150; B, 75 to 89.9; C, 60 to 74.9; D, 50 to 59.9; and F, 0 to 49.9. St Landry Parish Cankton Elementary, C, 67.7; Central Middle, D, 50.6; East Elementary, A, 93.8; Eunice Elementary, D, 54.4; Eunice High, A, 104.8; Eunice Junior High, C, 74.

Schools scores outgrow pre-pandemic levels

Performance scores for the state’s public schools and systems exceeded pre-pandemic levels in the 2023 performance scores released on Monday by the Louisiana Department of Education. Louisiana’s 2023 statewide school performance score improved 1.4 points to 78.5.

Eunice High racks up another A in state scores

Eunice High School attained its fifth A in the state performance scores, which were released Monday. Eunice High is the top-scoring regular high school in St. Landry Parish. Also scoring A is the Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts in Opelousas.

LSUE, McNeese sign transfer agreement

Louisiana State University Eunice and McNeese State University have signed multiple agreements that will allow LSUE students to seamlessly transfer to McNeese State after earning an associate degree in business administration, health sciences, nursing and radiologic technology.

Concealed Carry permit class Nov. 18 The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 18 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course fee is $100 and $8 for a spouse or renewal.

FFA salutes veterans at Eunice High

A Veterans Day program and breakfast was held at Eunice High School Wednesday morning. The event was hosted and sponsored by the Eunice High FFA officers and members. The breakfast was cooked and prepared by some members of the Knights of Columbus of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
