Concealed Carry permit class Dec. 2 The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course fee is $100 and $8 for a spouse or renewal.

Blanchard wins District 13 Council seat, Eunice hotel tax passes

Ernest “Ernie” Blanchard won the St. Landry Parish Council District 13 seat with 55% of the 810 votes cast in Saturday’s voting. Blanchard, a former Eunice alderman, received 442 votes, according to geauxvote.com, the state Secretary of State’s election website.

French immersion school taking applications

Early applications for École Saint-Landry’s fourth year closes Jan. 1. École Saint-Landry will be free of charge to admitted students and free bus transportation will be available for all students.

Ordinances filled Parish Council’s time

There were 16 ordinances on the table at the St. Landry Parish Council met on Wednesday. Not all of the ordinances were addressed, but there was enough to fill about and 90 minutes of hearing time. Ten ordinances were introduced and another five were passed.

LSUE leads state in community college to 4-year transfer rate

LSU Eunice leads the state of Louisiana in producing students that go on to transfer to a four-year institution, according to a report by the U.S. Department of Education. The data was released during the “Raise the Bar: Attaining College Excellence and Equity Initiative” summit hosted by the U.S.

Johnson’s election to speaker is a life reset

There has never been a Speaker of the House from Louisiana. Jerrie LeDoux, community liaison for U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Eunice Rotary Club.

Eunice Parish Council seat up for a vote Saturday

An election for the St. Landry Parish District 13 Council, which includes all of Eunice, is between Ernest Blanchard and Leward Lafleur in Saturday’s election. The election also includes a hotel occupancy tax with the proceeds to fund tourism.

LSUE partners to provide respiratory therapy training apprenticeship

LSU Eunice, Ochsner Lafayette General and Acadiana Workforce Solutions unveiled its Respiratory Therapy Apprenticeship Customized Training Program on Tuesday on the campus.
