Concealed carry permit class set Saturday The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one day concealed carry permit training class on Saturday, Sept. 23 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at 211 West Park in Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.

Ceremony to celebrate St. Landry Parish Courthouse renovation

A ceremony at 10 a.m. Tuesday will celebrate the near completion of a renovation project begun in January 2021. The building in Opelousas was constructed in 1939 and after more than eight decades it had problems.

Police officer approved for Eunice public schools

A school resource officer from the Eunice Police ranks was approved by the Eunice Board of Aldermen on Tuesday. The Board approved an agreement with the St. Landry Parish School Board to provide the officer. Next, the St.

Cajun Prairie weathered drought

Bees and butterflies went about their business at the Eunice Prairie on Saturday morning as about 40 visitors walked around the 12-acre plot. The activity was the Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society’s fall visit to the site as a prelude to a meeting at LSUE.

Sales tax collections up in St. Landry Parish

Sales tax collections through August were up 4.2% compared to 2022, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The collections through August totaled $62,910,760, up $2,558,855 over the same period in 2022.

TRIAD workshop in Eunice on Wednesday

The TRIAD workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the VFW on U.S. 190 in Eunice. A lunch is served, with live music and door prizes from local merchants and healthcare providers.
