School Board OKs 4 new jobs

The St. Landry Parish School Board approved four new jobs and a salary range of $85,000 to $105,000 for principal/zone leaders at Eunice and Opelousas high schools.

Council votes 10% budget cut; parish president vows a veto

The St. Landry Parish Council voted 8-3 for a 10% across-the-board budget cut at special meeting Wednesday in Opelousas. Parish President Jessie Bellard called it “games” and said he isn’t going to change his 2023 budget after the resolution vote.

Jobless rate, workforce hold steady

The Tri-Parish workforce in April was little changed from a year ago and jobless rates were stable, according to the data released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The Tri-Parish workforce totaled 68,275 in April up 165 or 0.

Fallen remembered here on Memorial Day

Those who gave their all in service to the nation were honored and remembered in a service on Memorial Day in Eunice. “The day is about them. We will say their names,” said Donnie Fontenot, VFW Post 8971 commander. “The whole day is about remembering them,” he said.
