Coco Tribe of Canneci Tinne to appear at Opelousas Museum

November is National American Indian Heritage Month. On Saturday Nov. 4, Chief Cougar Goodbear and members of the Coco Tribe of Canneci Tinne will hold a social from 10 a.m. to noon at the Opelousas Museum, located at 315 N. Main in Opelousas.

OPELOUSAS – Early voting for the October 14 election will be held from Saturday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 7, excluding Sunday, Oct. 1. The hours will be from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day.

Community Day at Opelousas Animal Control set Oct. 7 St. Landry Parish Animal Control announces their upcoming Community Day, a special event dedicated to celebrating “Adopt a Dog Month” and supporting Bissell’s “Empty the Shelter” initiative.

Acadian Village rehab project nears completion

A 30-unit renovation for flood-damaged apartments is nearing completion about two months ahead of schedule, according to Angelia Guillory, Eunice Housing Authority director. The apartments were damaged by flooding in August 2016 and have not been occupied since.
