St. Landry Parish’s only French immersion school is asking the St. Landry Parish School Board to expand its charter from kindergarten to fifth grade to eighth grade.

Memorial Day ceremony set Monday A Memorial Day ceremony sponsored by the VFW Post 8971, the American Legion Post 129 and the DAV Chapter 19 will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the intersection of South 2nd Street and Park Avenue, Eunice. Boy Scout Troop 425 will perform a flag raising ceremony.

Board agrees to pay new superintendent $160K/year

Milton Batiste will be paid $160,000 a year to serve as school superintendent for the St. Landry Parish School Board. Batiste, 43, of Opelousas, ironed out the details of his 4-year contract at a special School Board meeting Tuesday in Opelousas.

LSU Eunice Chancellor’s List for Spring 2023 semester

Louisiana State University Eunice announced 339 students have been given Chancellor’s List recognition for the 2023 Spring Semester. To be named to the Chancellor’s List a student must have full-time status, completing 12 credit hours during the semester, and maintain at least a 3.
