Free COVID and flu shots at Food Bank There will be free COVID and flu shots from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the Eunice Food Bank located at 2101 West Ash. Persons ages 12 and up can receive the vaccinations.

Parish Council considering ambulance ordinance

An ordinance to regulate ambulance service in St. Landry Parish is on hold after a Council meeting Wednesday. One issue that surfaced is improving service to north St. Landry Parish.

Top parish government pay listed

As part of its budget approval process the St. Landry Parish Council received a list of parish employees and their salaries, a list of vehicles and an organizational chart from Parish President Jessie Bellard at its Wednesday meeting. There are 118 employees listed in 11 departments.

Memorial Day exhibit planned at Le Vieux Presbytère Le Vieux Presbytère Museum, located at 205 Rue Iry Lejeune in Church Point, invites family members of deceased veterans to contribute memorabilia to the museum’s Memorial Day exhibit, which will be unveiled at 11 a.m., May 27.

Farmers’ Market 2X weekly Street

Beginning May 24, the Eunice Farmers’ Market will be open twice a week, weather permitting, on Wednesday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon on South 2nd St. between Café Mosaic and the library.

Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society to meet Saturday

The Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society’s annual spring meeting will be held on Saturday in Eunice. The meeting starts with a tour of the 10-acre Eunice prairie park, 650 E. Magnolia Ave., at 8 a.m.

Registrar: Voters with changes to receive new Voter IDs

St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters Byron J. Stelly announced completion of state redistricting and there were several changes in the state senate, state representative, and BESE (Board of Elementary and Secondary Education) districts.

Can parish school enrollment increase?

Newly named St. Landry Parish School Superintendent Milton Batiste charted a tough course for the parish school district’s enrollment. During his presentation to the School Board, Batiste said increasing school enrollment is a “quick win’ way to improve the district’s finances.
