Eunice director of operations wins McDonald’s highest mid-level operations award

Bridget Miller, a 28-year employee of Patel McDonald’s in Eunice, has received the McDonald’s 2022 Outstanding Operations Contributor Award for her exceptional work in restaurant operations.

Meterologist experiencing his first hurricane season up close

With hurricane season soon approaching, Doug Cramer, warning coordinator meterologist with the National Weather Service of Lake Charles was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Rotary Club meeting. It’s Cramer’s first hurricane season in Louisiana. Cramer grew up in Kansas.

Questions table St. Landry Parish budget

Once again the St. Landry Parish Government budget prepared by Parish President Jessie Bellard was tabled by the Parish Council. “I have gone through the budget for several weeks. We are not ready to pass a budget tonight,” said Council member Harold Taylor.

City-wide Cleanup slated April 22 The week of April 15 to 22 is Love the Boot Week in the state. Keep Eunice Beautiful received a state cleanup supply grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful of shirts, trash bags, grabbers and gloves.

City to launch wastewater plant design work

Two utility upgrades were announced at the recent Board of Aldermen’s meeting. Karl Aucoin, city engineer, said the city is “undertaking a pretty large project” to reconstruct the existing wastewater plant. There are two plants. One is about 70 years old and the other is about 30 years old, he said.

Board to interview superintendent candidates

The St. Landry Parish School Board will interview five candidates for its superintendent job today and Friday. The five candidates are Milton Batiste III, Curt Green, Paul Nelson, Michael Robinson Jr. and Shirley Thibodeaux. Today’s meeting is to start at 4 p.m.

Eunice High grad is nominee for federal judge

Eunice High school graduate Darrel Papillion is a nominee for U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Papillion is a 1986 graduate of Eunice High School. He also attended LSUE. Speaking French, Papillion was an early morning disc jockey at KEUN radio station in Eunice.

St. Landry Sheriff Concealed Permit Class set Saturday The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will have a one day concealed carry permit training class on Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at 211 West Park in Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.
