St. Landry Parish road crews assisting in clearing roads

St. Landry Parish Public Works crews are actively assisting with road cleanup efforts in several areas across the parish. Current cleanup locations include: • Eunice: Hwy 190 and Hwy 13 • Opelousas: Vine Street, Landry Street, Union Street, and Main Street • Sunset: Hwy 182

Are ice and snow visiting more often?

The past week’s extreme weather shows again that the end of January seems to be a favored time for south Louisiana to shiver under brutal temperatures and marvel at heavy snow, but the month doesn’t have exclusive chill rights.

Evangeline Parish School Board rejects charter

The Evangeline Parish School Board rejected an application for a charter school in Pine Prairie on Jan. 15 The school can now apply to the state’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education for approval.

Eunice News taking a snow day

The Eunice News office will be closed on Tuesday due to the expected snow and depending on road conditions may close on Wednesday. If the office is closed on Wednesday delivery of the Thursday edition will be delayed.

March for Life set for Wednesday The Annual Eunice March for Life will be held at noon, Wednesday. The public is invited to walk beginning on North 2nd in front of Picou’s Drugs Store and will conclude at the parking lot at City Hall.

Meterologist Romero tells his story at Eunice Rotary Club meeting

The timing was perfect for the Eunice Rotary Club to host a meteorologist given an arctic blast coming for the next week. Dan Romero, chief meteorologist for News 15 KADN/KLAF offered his long range forecast. “Tuesday, I think, we will get an icy mess, probably freezing rain,” he said.

Eunice is top tourist destination in the parish

Eunice, especially at Mardi Gras, is one of the top tourist destinations in St. Landry Parish. Herman Fuselier, St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission executive director, told the St. Landry Parish Council that on Mardi Gras day there were 11,300 people in downtown Eunice.
