The following people obtained marriage licenses from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office. Tuesday, Nov. 26 Adam Sage Dennis and Ainsley Marie Grayson, both of Eunice. Peter Joseph Edmonson Jr. and Beverly Ann Reed, both of Opelousas. Wednesday, Nov.

The following civil cases were filed in the 27th Judicial District Court. Monday, Nov. 25 Gulfco of Louisiana LLC vs Rebecca Millet, et al, open account. Succession of Walter Allen Leonard. Tuesday, Nov. 26 Jessie Bellard vs Bobby J. Guidroz, declaratory relief.

Senator’s staff sets hours in Eunice, Mamou

The office of U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), will host two constituent assistance events in Eunice and Mamou on Thursday. The sessions are to help constituents needing assistance with federal agencies ranging from the Social Security Administration to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections rose 7%

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections continued rising in November when they were up 7% for the year compared to the same 11-month period in 2023, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

Food drive, Christmas parade top the holiday events this week

Food drives are on the holiday schedule this week along with the Christmas parade in Eunice. On Tuesday, the Eunice Food Bank Food Drive is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eunice Food Bank, located at 2101 West Ash, behind the Department of Motor Vehicles Office.

Guillory offers 4-part plan to heal divisions

Former State Sen. Elbert Guillory is a politician, preacher and lawyer. As a politician he recently came in second in the Nov. 5 election to represent the newly formed 6th Congressional District. Guillory won 38% of the vote, but lost to State Sen.

4 constitutional amendments await voters Saturday

By Julie O’Donoghue Louisiana Illuminator Louisiana voters will decide the fate of four state constitutional amendments in Saturday’s election. They involve judicial discipline, the state budget process and property tax debt. Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Christmas events begin Thursday at Community Garden, concert

Today is the big day for community Christmas events in Eunice beginning at 5 p.m. with the fourth annual Eunice Community Garden Christmas Festival from 5 to 7 p.m. The event featuring activities for children and treats is held at the community garden, 2101 W. Ash St., Eunice.
