Rayne rehab center site opposed

If the developer decided to go forward with the construction of an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center on Nation Road just outside Rayne, there’s nothing the Acadia Parish Police Jury can do to stop him, despite please from constituents.

Winning robotics team

The Northwest High robotics team, “The Jawas,” competed against 31 of the top robotics teams from across Louisiana at the Vex Robotics Louisiana State Championships on Feb. 24.

The St. Landry Parish School Board may consider live-streaming its meetings on the internet at it meeting today.
During the pandemic the Board streamed its meetings, but that ended when COVID restrictions dropped.

St. Landry Parish economic developer Bill Rodier says to start taking photos now along Interstate 49 south of Opelousas because change is coming quick.

St. Mathilda Church Lent dinners Fridays
St. Mathilda Church will have Fried Fish and fish courtbouillon dinners fundraiser on every Friday during Lent.
Pick up is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Bishop Ceasar Center.

Acadia Parish project is among those bid by DOTD

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced Thursday that 21 projects around the state received bids recently. Seventeen contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $87.9 million.

Ash Wednesday, Lent season tradition

St. Mathilda Catholic Church held its Ash Wednesday fish dinners fundraiser Wednesday with pick up at the Bishop Ceaser Center. Volunteers from the community as well as from the church helped cook, prepare, and serve ticket holders.

School Board may ban hoodies

The St. Landry Parish School Board may ban hoodies from its campuses and events including athletic events.
The ban is proposed as an addition to the school system’s dress code introduced at a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Thursday.
