Gloria Jane Deshotel Miller passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. Thomas Chapel with Father Korey Lavergne Celebrant. Burial will follow in Verret Cemetery.

Joni Guidry has been appointed the new Acadia Parish registrar of voters following the recent retirement of long-time registrar Billie Myer. During the Sept. 9 regular meeting of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, Guidry was nominated by Police Juror Troy Lantz.
