Christmas Fest at Eunice Community Garden set Dec. 2 The Eunice Community Garden will hold its 5th annual Christmas Festival from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2. Randy Miller, organizer and director of Eunice Community Garden, needs groups or individuals to help decorate this year.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Friday, Nov. 14 Kedesha Nicole Scott, 31, 400 block of 9th Street, Franklin. Bench warrant. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. The Police Department changed the format from chronological to one based on officers who responded to calls. Thursday, Nov. 13 There were 11 traffic stops from 5:43 p.m. until 11:42 p.m. Officer B. Wiles 1:12 p.m.

Couple accused of blocking, shooting at trash truck

An Opelousas man and woman are charged in connection with the shooting of a Bayou State garbage truck on Thursday. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated the Sheriff’s Office received a trespassing complaint at 7882 North Interstate 49 Service Road at about 4:30 a.m.

Council eyes more derelict properties

Derelict properties were again the main topic of discussion at a Eunice City Council meeting as the mayor and council members discussed four structures deemed an “imminent danger to (the) public.” Those four properties are 421 Acadia St., 416 Pierotti St., 1141 West Ash Ave. and 910 West Ash Ave.

Student charged with bomb threat

A 12-year-old Eunice Junior High School student is charged in connection with a bomb threat at the school on Thursday.

St. Landry Parish worker busted

A St. Landry Parish animal control employee was snared in a drug bust on Thursday. Rasheed Saleem Rideaux, 46, of the 300 block of Azeline Drive, Opelousas, is charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and Adderall.
