I’m not sure who to believe anymore. House Intelligence Committee Chairman, and impeachment hearing ringmaster, Adam Schiff (D-Cal.) says he doesn’t know the identity of the whistleblower. President Trump says he’s “too busy” to watch the hearings on television. Each claim seems a bit far-fetched.

Acadia Police Jury sets budget hearing

With little fanfare, but before a large audience, the Acadia Parish Police Jury introduced its proposed 2020 budget and called for a public hearing on the document Tuesday (Nov. 12) night. That public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10.

Area towns ‘fiscally distressed’

Two towns in St. Landry Parish and one in Evangeline Parish are on the Legislative Auditor’s list of “fiscally distressed municipalities.” Basile and Washington are cited for concerns about its ongoing operations. Melville is listed for concerns about is water infrastructure.

Total sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish through October is over the year-to-date total of 2018, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division. Total sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish through October were $59,061,875, up $1,063,186 — 1.

Former mayor is in hall of fame

Former Eunice mayor E. Lynn Lejeune was named to the St. Landry Parish Women Hall of Fame at an induction ceremony on Nov. 7 in Opelousas. “I’m very honored and quite surprised to have received it,” Lejeune said. The five honored have spent years trying to make their community better, she said.

Shell station shooting suspect named on Crime Stoppers

St. Landry Crime Stoppers is asking the public’s help to locate Mckenzie Jermone Simmons, 24, of Eunice in connection with the Oct. 26 shooting at the Shell station on U.S. 190. Simmons’ last last known address of 24130 Pitre Road in Eunice, according to a news release from Crime Stoppers.

Marshal denies pushing wife

Lafayette television station KATC reported a video was sent to it showing Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne and his wife having a physical altercation after the LSU-Alabama game. The video was reported Thursday and the story stated it was submitted anonymously.
