Arrest made in drive-by shooting death

Eunice Police arrested Demyron L Skinner, 19, on Saturday and charged him with second-degree murder in the drive-by shooting death of a 21-year-old man on Nov. 4, according to news release from Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. Skinner is accused in the death of De’Omaante K.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) held its 21st Annual Adoption Celebration at the Governor’s Mansion on Thursday to celebrate the 893 children who found permanent homes with 661 families during the 2019 federal fiscal year.

Eunice native is an Army legend

Bryant Fontenot graduated in 1980 from St. Edmund High School with the desire to become a pilot and not just any kind of aviator. Fontenot, 56, remembers getting hooked on the helicopter scenes in the classic Vietnam War movie, “Apocalypse Now” at the Liberty Theater.

Murder trial set on Church Point victim’s birthday

The man charged with the 2016 murder of Church Point native Bethany Walters is scheduled to go to trial on what would have been the young woman’s 26th birthday. The victim’s mother, Cindy Walters, said, “The judge set the trial to start on April 28 of next year. That would have been her birthday.
