Seniors treated to holiday luncheon

Senior citizens enjoyed a fun-filled event, along with a luncheon, at the Southeast Neighborhood Center Thursday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. holiday event included bingo, door prizes and lunch held at 11:30 a.m. The official bingo caller was Germaine Simpson, Ward 2 alderwoman.

Evangeline Parish Police Jury holds annual French meeting

As the Evangeline Parish Police Jury reappointed Gregory Monier to the Mamou Fire District No. 1 for two additional years and Lucas Berzas and Robert Lejeune to Acadia/Evangeline Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners for two additional years.

U.S. judge, LSUE alumnus offers 5 tips to grads

U.S. District Judge Darrel J. Papillion told LSUE graduates their education is a lifeline and bridge to the future. The LSUE almunus also provided five tips to the graduates that he wished he had been told years ago. Papillion spoke at LSU Eunice’s Fall Commencement on Friday.

Eunice News candidate announcement policy

The deadline for announcements in The Eunice News is Feb. 23 for the March 23 election. The Eunice News will publish candidate announcements at no charge when accompanied by a $250 payment for advertising. The payment must be made in advance of publication.

3 qualify for district judge

As of Friday morning three people qualified on for the 27th Judicial District judge seat to be vacated by the retirement of Judge Gerard Caswell. The Division B seat includes western St. Landry Parish. Qualifying was held through Wednesday through Friday.

Driver killed in two-vehicle Evangeline Parish crash

Shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday, Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash on La. 10 about half a mile west of Beaver Road. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 75-year-old Eddie Brunson (female) of Oakdale.
