Workforce up, jobless rate down in November

The Tri-Parish workforce was up nearly 2% in November compared to a November 2021 and jobless rates are down from a year ago, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The Tri-Parish workforce totaled 68,506 in November, up 1,321 from the November 2021 count.

Man arrested for abusing dog

Jimmy J. Olivier Jr., 52, of Darryl Lane in Port Barre, was arrested on one count of cruelty to animals on Tuesday, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Government. On Dec. 24, Animal Control Director Spencer Cornette was notified by the St.

Montoucet tells progress of LDWF during tenure

After a stint as a state representative, Jack Montoucet has served seven years as the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Dating back to his years in the House, Montoucet has visited the Crowley Lions Club on numerous occasions as guest speaker.
