St. Landry Parish warning residents of phone scam

St. Landry Parish Government has been alerted to a phone scam targeting local residents, particularly the elderly, using the Parish Government’s main phone line as the Caller ID. Scammers are demanding large sums of money under the threat of arrest.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Wednesday, Dec. 11 Isaiah Meszaros, 23, 313 W. Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Opelousas. Home invasion, domestic abuse battery (child endangerment).

Tips sought about cold case killing

Opelousas Police and Crime Stoppers needs help in solving a cold-case homicide in the city of Opelousas. In the early morning hours of Oct. 7, 2020, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 426 W. Landry St., in reference to gunshots in the area.
