Man on scooter dies in La. 13 hit-and-run

A 25-year-old Eunice man died after the electric scooter he was driving was struck by a SUV on La. 13 near Townhome Drive in a hit-and-run. Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said police were dispatched at 5:26 p.m.

Earlier this month, the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division was requested to investigate allegations of sexual battery, leading to the arrest of 73-year-old Gerald Green of Opelousas.

St. Landry Parish Government has been alerted to a phone scam targeting local residents, particularly the elderly, using the Parish Government’s main phone line as the Caller ID. Scammers are demanding large sums of money under the threat of arrest.
