Eunice man’s 40-year sentence for shooting upheld

Xavier Watson was convicted of attempted second-degree murder after one hour of deliberation by a St. Landry Parish jury in February for shooting a 14-year-old twice in the abdomen on May 4, 2022. Watson appealed his conviction and on Nov. 27 the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal rejected the appeal.

Woman says she raped her minor children

A 31-year-old woman arrived at the St. Landry Parish Jail on Sunday and confessed to physically and sexually abusing her children, both under the age of four, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
